INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS

Turkish Journal of Fertility publishes original research, editorial comments, review and case report articles on infertility, fertility, IVF-ET, gynecologic endocrinology, contraception and menopause. Manuscripts are accepted for review with the understanding that no substantial portion of the study has been published or is under consideration for publication elsewhere. The studies has been presented as an abstract at meetings or symposia can be submitted by identifying the date and name of the congress. The grammetical errors can be corrected by the editorial board. The authors responsible for the ethical rules for human and non-human researches. Upon acceptance of article all the copyrights belongs to the journal. Only standard abbreviations are allowed.

Manuscripts must be typewritten in 10 pitch (12 point) type and double-spaced on one-side only of 22x28 cm (8.5x11-inch) A4 white paper with 3 cm margins at top, bottom and sides. Three hard-copies of body of text, figures and tables with accompanying computer disk or CD must be supplied at original submission. If it is prepared properly e-mail attachment is acceptable provided that all files are included in a single file. Manuscripts should be submitted to the following address:

There are no submission fees or page charges. Each manuscript should be accompanied by a cover letter outlining the basic findings of the paper and their significance. The cover letter should include the complete title and original signature of each author.

The manuscripts must be subdivided into the following sequence of sections which must be written on a seperate page: Title page, Abstract with key words, Article precis, Introduction, Materials and methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgements, References, Tables, Legends to figures. For case reports sequence of sections should be: Title page, Abstract with key words, Article precis, Introduction, Case report, Discussion, Acknowledgements, References, Tables, Legends to figures. For review articles Title page, Abstract with key words, Article precis, Introduction and Conclusion section are required in addition to the main body of text.

The Title Page should include the article title, author names and complete affiliations, footnotes to the title, category of manuscript, short title of no more than 30 characters and spaces for use as a running foot, and the address for manuscript correspondence including e-mail address and telephone and fax numbers. The number of authors permitted on regular articles is seven. Multicentered or multisectioned studies are permitted to a maximum of ten authors. On case reports five authors are permitted, on reviews and on letters to the editor three.

The Abstract for an original research report and review article should contain up to 250 words and structured under the following headings: Objective(s), Institution, Materials and Methods, Results, and Conclusion(s). For case reports the upper limit is 150 words, structured under the headings of Background, Institution, Case, and Conclusion(s). For reviews the upper limit is 300 words and should be structured under the following headings: Objective, Method, and Conclusion. Abstracts are not required for editorials and letters. Keywords up to five should be listed after the abstract.

The Article Precise should be a single sentence of no more than 25 words for use in the table of contents beneath the article title.
Introduction should be as concise as possible and should orient the reader to the subject dealed with the article. A detailed literature review should be avoided in this section.

Materials and methods should explain the methodology of research that could be reasonably reproduced.

Results should present the findings in appropriate detail. Tables and figures must not duplicate the text.

Discussion should define all the findings in detail in the light of previous literature. Unnecessary repetition of results given earlier should be avoided.

Acknowledgements should be made to funding institutions and organizations and, if to persons only to those who have made substantial contributions to the study.

References should be cited in the text by Arabic numerals in parenthesis, (1), (2), etc, in order of appearence in the text and must adhere to the specifications of the 'Uniform Requiremens for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals'. Journal names should be abbreviated according to the style of Index Medicus. Authors are responsible for the accuracy of all references. Only articles that have been published or are in press should be included in the references. For the articles up to six authors all the names should be written, but if the list of them more than six only the first three names should be written with the addition of et al. The maximum permitted number of references for research articles are 25, for reviews 50, for letters and case reports 10. References should be written according to the following samples:

For journal article;

For book;
DeCherney AH: Habitual abortion. In: Kase NG, Weingold AB, Gershenson DM (eds): Principles and Practice of Clinical Gynecology, Churchill Livingstone Inc., New York, Second ed, 1990, 471.

Tables should be typed on a seperate sheet of paper and numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals in order of appearence in the text. Clear and concise title should be written at the top and explanatory footnotes should be used to define abbreviations.

Figures should be in a finished form suitable for publication and should be numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals by the identification of top and right handside, title and the name of first author on the back. Lettering on drawings should be professional quality or generated by high-resolution computer graphics and must be large enough to reduction for publication. Figure legends should be written on a seperate page.

The checklist that appears in each issue of the journal must be fully completed by the author(s) and sent with each submitted manuscript.
